How did you get into skiing and then later CrossFit?
My family are really great skiers so they got me into it when I was 3 on a family trip to Austria. I spent years trying to catch up with my older brother Scott and it snowballed from there.
I had been looking for something to add to my off-snow training program when I found Crossfit. In 2014 a close friend of mine was opening her own box in the Netherlands and she wanted to coach me. I loved it and have been doing it ever since.
Why do you love skiing?
I love the feeling you get when you're skiing. Being at the top of the mountain, feeling the wind, the speed... it's totally freeing.
What does your usual day look like?
If I'm skiing I'll get the first lift up and usually hunt for some powder. On training camps, I was always training in the Ski Cross track, GS track or in the snow park. The afternoons are filled with some recovery training, ski prepping and video analysis.
Off the snow, I will be in the gym in the morning coaching CrossFit. I train the firefighters at Rotterdam Airport so I head there after my morning classes. In the afternoon I train myself and then will coach my personal training clients and more CrossFit classes in the evening. It's pretty busy but I love it.
What are your proudest moments?
Making the Olympic Criteria for Alpine Skiing was one of my proudest moments. I'm also proud of being the only British Woman to compete in World Cup Alpine and World Cup Ski Cross.
If you weren't a sportsperson, what would you be?
It's really hard for me to imagine my life without sports. I would definitely be in another sport if it hadn't been skiing, I was all about sport when I was at school, it was my biggest passion.
What injuries have you had and how did they affect you?
Oh wow! I've had a lot of big injuries. I just had my 14th surgery and I know it won't be my last. I've broken all the major joints in my body and had multiple concussions. Neck, shoulders, hips, knees. I've had some unlucky breaks and most of the time I returned to competition too quickly which has really set me back over the years. I wish I could tell my younger self to take more time to recover fully first. Some bad decisions have ultimately left me worse off now.
How does NuroKor help you manage your recovery?
As I have ongoing problems with injury, NuroKor helps me not only manage the pain but helps to rehabilitate also. In combination with daily recovery, it's a perfect tool for me.
Where do you use it?
I have used it all over. I am still getting to know all the features and where I benefit the most but at the moment I love the recovery on my quads and stimulation of my upper back and shoulders.
What's next for you? Next big goal?
My big goal is to get fit and healthy again. Besides that, I am taking it step by step to recover and hopefully get back to charging as hard as I can again!
